The relationship of the viewer to her paintings reflects the questioning nature of the art, itself—a lived contemplation of the relationship of a seer to the sky, sea, and land. To view a Sher landscape is to find oneself with one foot on the ground, asking, “Where, exactly, am I? What is the light offering up, and what does it obscure? Where can I go from here?” The other foot disappears into the mist.
